ChakradanceTM

Facilitator-Shirley Tonkin

What can Chakradance do for you?  On one level, CHAKRADANCE™ can be experienced as a joyful affirmation of who you truly are. Using spontaneous dance, creativity and your imagination, CHAKRADANCE™ leads to an awakening, a discovery of your true self.

But at a deeper level, CHAKRADANCE™ is also about healing and balance. By surrendering to the music of each chakra, we dance from the inside out and find ourselves awakening and healing ancient hurts; expressing – often for the first time – long-blocked emotions; and opening ourselves up to levels of spiritual connection higher than we ever thought possible.

This is what we mean when we describe CHAKRADANCE™ as “rhythm for your soul”.

At the Retreat we will glimpse at all seven chakras and will focus on rebalancing and harmonising your energy flows.  It will be a playful experience that will free and energise you.  The workshop will combine spontaneous dance, guided imagery and wonderful music especially chosen or written to balance your chakras.

For further information about CHAKRADANCE™ please go to the website www.chakradance.com

Dance/Movement

PHILLIP G. LIGHT: Dance/ Movement Therapist
Recently moved from Melbourne to Denmark, WA.

Dance has been my passion for many years.

In 1990, I began training in Senegalese (West African) Dance in Munich, Germany with Mammadou Fall (choreographer/dancer with the Senegalese National Ballet).

During the three and a half years in which I trained with him, I realised the power of dance as therapy.

This led me to the study of Dance/Movement Therapy at the International Dance Therapy Institute of Australia, in Melbourne.

I have been working in this field for several years now.

DRUMMING

BEAT THE FAMILY

BUILDING STRONG FAMLIES THROUGH DRUMMING

Facilitator-Saz Lockyer

Beat the Family, is a family orientated drumming workshop aimed at improving family relationships  through African drums (Djembe’s).

The workshop uses drum and beat as a tool to build trust and relationships within a family group. Improving these values can have a direct impact on improving your family life and objectives.

This workshop uses family-drumming exercises to identify individual’s personalities, while highlighting the need to work as a family.

Beat the Family uses basic drumming rhythms as a metaphor for personal behavior. E.g. an erratic personality is hard to work with, just like an erratic beat is hard to play along with.

B.t.F is fun, expressive and family group discussions are used after every exercise to build communication. Family member’s identification of family values is an important part of  building a strong family. Listening to others will improve the family’s decision-making process.

Conflict resolution is highlighted through clashing rhythms. Finding a common beat is the answer and this idea is important to real life resolutions in the family.

Working in rhythm with each other makes your Family stronger and less prone to division. When playing as a family, individuals are supported by each other, maintaining a common rhythm. The same basic drumming principal has been used in war with advancing troops.

B.t.F gives individuals the opportunity to lead the family group and build confidence in themselves .It can also give parents an opportunity to see hidden strengths and weaknesses of their children.

JOURNALING

Facilitator-Nicola Le Breton

I think words are like ribbons, unravelling us from within and leading us to the wisdom that lies hidden in our own hearts and minds. For me, unravelling is an opening up, emerging from behind shadows of fear, habit and expectations that have limited my living.  It can be scary, letting go of all the controls.  But the rewards are fantastic … more energy, aliveness and creativity.  It’s like coming into full bloom!

In an atmosphere of intimacy and sharing, we will explore some of the diary techniques and exercises I have found most helpful in my own unravelling process, including: free intuitive writing, life writing, voice dialogue and dream diaries.  If you have a powerful or recurring dream you’d like to understand better, please bring it along to the workshop.  I’ll show you how you can unravel through words to find your own authentic writing voice, to identify patterns in the patchwork of your life, and to discover inner wisdom levels you didn’t know you had.

My workshop is ideal for both experienced and novice writers and is very safe.  You will find yourself in a place were you can relax and be both trusted and trusting.  In this wonderful process, you will feel respect, compassion and openness grow stronger within the group.

“The act of writing helps name the unnameable: the chaotic feelings we resist, fear, or remain unaware of.  Paradoxically, by letting go, by externalising feelings in words, we gain a great ability to take charge of our own lives, and begin to see the patterns within the seeming chaos.”

TESTIMONIALS – from past students and writing partners

“The presenter’s passion and long term involvement in writing came over.  She was skilful, supportive and empathic.”

David Lynch, Denmark

“The most important thing I have learned about myself as a writer is that I am one!  That the least event has its own opportunity to shine – it simply needs to be held up and examined and reflected upon, and who knows what wonders will be revealed.”

 Jenny Douglas, Denmark

“I loved hearing all the different styles read aloud in class.  I learnt a lot about people’s worlds, including my own.”

Annabelle Arnold, Denmark

“I felt relaxed, encouraged and supported.  The presenter is unpretentious, skilful and only showing us the tip of her bounty of experience and knowledge of the writing process.”

Maryam Paschali, Denmark

“Nicola has a passion for writing. This passion combined with her insightfulness and her integrity and honesty make her an invaluable writing partner.”

Kate King, Denmark

"Having shared the writing experience with Nicola over the years I am grateful for her insightful feedback, encouragement and companionship on the road to creative fullfillment. Not only does Nicola paint pictures with her own words, she gently assists others to find their pallet of colours too."

Gwen Sutherland

“Thank you Nicola for your Journaling Workshop. More than helping me record this precious lifes journey, you gave me tools to explore my own thoughts, my inner being. I feel excited by the prospect of getting to know myself better. I never imagined Journaling could be used as practical tool for my spiritual growth and more than that, for my creativity, 'the dance of the pen on the page', a whole new world opened up to me... Thank you. x “
